Anni Albers

What goes up at some point has to come down for new exhibition. While we say goodbye to the Anni Albers In Thread and On Paper exhibition, we are getting the space ready for another great exhibition full of colors and lights that will be opening in just a few days.

September 18th, 2020

After a long time of being on displayed and being on pause due to the pandemic, it was time to deinstall the exhibition In Thread and On Paper: Anni Albers in Connecticut. This exhibition was curated by Fritz Horstman, and although I was not involved during the installation it was really nice to see the way the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation handled the deinstallation, how they handle the artwork, the packaging, the condition report of the different work. Some of the textile that was on display was super heavy, it took five of us to deinstall it from the wall. I’m a big fan of geometric shapes in art so seeing the designs and the weavings on some of the works was very exciting for me, it makes my brain look for images within the shapes. In the meantime, while the work started to leave the galleries, we were getting the walls fixed, painted, and ready for an exciting exhibition that’s opening in less than two weeks. It took pretty much all week to deinstall all of the pieces from Anni Albers’s exhibition and with the next exhibition opening pretty soon, there isn’t much time to waste. Both galleries need to be turned around in a week, walls need to be moved and painted, and I’m really excited for next week to start seeing all the new artwork that’s going to up.
